One of my favorite characters in Animal Farm is Benjamin the donkey. I like Benjamin because all throughout Napoleons rule he was not affected by all the deceptions that Napoleon preached. Also I like him because although he his not mentioned much you can sense that he is there. Another reason why I like Benjamin is because when Boxer is sent to the glue factory he tries to save him because Benjamin can read the back of the trailer which says it all. The last reason why I like Benjamin is because he was the only animal who's memories of Snowball were not tarnished. In short he remains loyal to Snowball.
Another character that I like is Squealer. Although he worked for Napoleon I thought he was pretty cool. One character trait that would fit Squealer perfectly would be persuasive. I picked this trait because Squealer was the pig that did all the deceiving ordered by Napoleon. Another reason why I picked this trait is because he is one of the pigs that preaches false ideas about Snowball to the animals. One thing that I like about him is that to enhance his persuasiveness he sways back and forth from side to side while he talks.

One event hat goes on in Animal Farm that I disagree with is Major's death. I disagree with this event because Major was the boar that planted the idea to rebel in the animals head's. Personally I think he should have seen his plan become reality. Also I disagree with this event because Major would have made better ruler than Snowball or Napoleon. Another reason why I disagree with this event is that I think tat instead of Major dieing I think that Napoleon should die. I think this because Napoleon was a cruel ruler and mean to the animals. also I think that Napoleon should die instead of Major because Napoleon wanted to make things better for himself where Major and Snowball had the whole farm in mind.
Another even that goes on in this novel that I don't like is when Napoleon changes the commandments without the animals knowing. I do not like these events because it represents so much that goes on today in the world. Leaders of countries tell the people only part of the truth to make the people feel they are doing something good but really doing something bad. Also these events represent a lot going on in the world to day because all the time leaders deceive their people by planing false ideas in their heads. In the book the animals have some underlying thought that the commandments say something different but these thoughts are quickly squished by Napoleon.

A major theme in this book is to be grateful for what you have. I think this is a major theme because throughout the novel Napoleon just tries to make things better for himself. First he is not satisfied with Snowball ruling the farm so he takes over the leadership. After this he has all f the pigs including him get better food rations than the other animals. Then he and the pigs move into the house and say they are only sleeping in the beds. Next Napoleon kills all of the animals that were in league with Snowball which were quite a few. As you can see Napoleon did all these things just to make life better for him and his acquaintances.
Another major theme in this book is cooperation. I think that this is a major theme because in order for the animals to complete the windmill they had to have a great level of cooperation. Fist off it took 2-6 animals to get block f rock from their "quarry". Then this rock had to be dragged up a hill to a cliff area and pushed over the side to get it to break. If it did not break the animals had to take it to the top of the cliff and push it over again. After this was done finally the blocks could be taken to the construction site and used as building block. As you can see it took a lot of cooperation to build the windmill.

One character in this book that I really like is Boxer. One reason why I like is he sort-of carries the whole farm on his shoulders. I think this because first he wakes up earlier than all the animals to work on the windmill by himself. Then he stays up later than all of the other animals and does the same thing. Another reason why I think Boxer carries the farm on his shoulders is because everybody looks up to him and he provides the animals with new energy to keep working. One example in the book is when the animals wake up and see Boxer already working it fills them with energy and brings them up if they were feeling down.
Another character that I really like is Snowball. I like him because first eh puts the farm and the animals before himself. One way that he does this is because he come up with the idea to build a windmill that will power engines to some type of work. But unlike Napoleon he ants to build the windmill in shifts so the animals don't get worn out. Another way he puts the farm and the animals before himself is that when Jones and some other farmers come to take back the farm Snowball charges Jones all by himself and keeps going although he got shot. One last way he puts the animals and the farm before himself is that he does not look to make life only better for him he wants to make life better for all of the animals.

The main symbol that the author is trying to get across in Animal Farm is communism. I think this because first the book starts off with the animals not happy with the farmer Mr. Jones. Then the animals rebel and Snowball becomes their leader and governs the farm like a democracy. After this some animals are not happy with Snowball and Napoleon takes over starting a communist rule that lasts through out the book. First off he gives the pigs the best rations of food. Sort-of like communists getting the best cars and houses. Then Napoleon bends the commandments by adding to them in the night so the animals don't know he is doing it. This is like communist leaders today lying to the public about something.
Another symbol that I think the author is trying to get across is to be grateful for what you have. I think this because through out the book Napoleon just tries to make life more luxurious. Also I think this because he works the animals has hard as Jones did and does no work himself just to make life better for only him. One last reason why I think this is because he bends the commandments to again make life better for him. One example is that Napoleon changed a commandment from "No animal will sleep in a bed." to "no animal will sleep in a bed with sheets." Just so the other pigs and himself could go into the house and have the luxury to have a bed.

One question I had as I read Animal Farm was why don't the animals rebel against Napoleon? I mean he is treating them about the same as Mr. Jones did. First off Napoleon decides to build one windmill. To build a wind mill the animals had to get large rocks drag the to the edge of the quarry and push them over the side and hoped that the rock smashed. If it didn't they would have to do it all over again. After this was done the animals then had to lay the rock. All the while Napoleon did no work. The shame was it fell over in a storm and Napoleon had them build it all over again. Also the animals get the same food rations if not worse then they did in Joneses time while the pigs pig out on almost all of the food. So why don't the animals rebel against Napoleon.
Another question that I had as I read this book is why does Napoleon try to make things better for only him? Why not make things better for all the animals. I mean if he made things better for every one the farm would prosper more and grow faster technology wise and economically. You see if he made things better for all the animals he would probably have a better work ethic out of them. Also the animals would cooperate more with him if he was nicer. If he made things better for the whole farm the farm would look nicer. Also it would probably run more smoothly and then they could by better machinery. If this happened then the farm would be able to prouduce more food and in turn the farm would make more money.

I think that the animals are going to rebel against Napoleon. I think this because they just witnessed a slaughter of animals just because they were in league with Snowball. Also I think this because the animals still have some underlying memories if the truth. I think that they will soon recall these memories and rebel against Napoleon for deceiving them. My opinion on the matter is that is that I think the animals should rebel against Napoleon. I think this because he keeps deceiving them and planting false ideas in their heads.
Another prediction that I have is that Napoleon is going to disobey the commandments and form alliances with the boarding farms and with the humans. I think this because he keeps adding tot the commandments in the middle of the night so he doesn't break them. Also I think this because he pushes the animals to hard and does no work himself just like Mr. Jones. Another reason why I think this is because all the pigs that run the farm now live in the house. Also because Napoleon insists that the pigs get the best rations. While they are in the house they have parties and drink. In other words he is becoming just like a human and that is against the commandments.
